A Million Babies Crying
Bill Quinn
What if the unborn could speak? What would they say to us?
Every year, more than a million pregnancies end in abortion in America. Worldwide, the number is estimated at more than 73 million. Those numbers are staggering, but what troubles me most isn't the statistics. It's the children behind them.
I sometimes wonder what those little souls might say if they could speak. Would they cry for the mothers and fathers they'll never know? For the birthdays they'll never celebrate? For the simple joys of growing up, falling in love and having families of their own?
An entire lifetime of possibilities, gone before it could begin.
That's what inspired me to write A Million Babies Crying. I wanted to give those children a voice, even if only through a song. To imagine their sorrow, their innocence and the lives they might have lived.
As a Catholic, I place my hope in God's infinite mercy. I pray that these children are safe in His loving embrace and that, one day, they may be reunited with their parents.
This isn't an easy song to hear. It wasn't an easy song to write.
